The team played great this weekend at the Wilson Tournament. Sunday, the girls painted their faces and sprayed their hair in seach of a win. After a hard fought battle, the girls rewarded themselves with a much deserved Victory. Great job Team. Enjoy looking at some pictures. Raffle Tickets Due Wednesday, Oct. 1

Parents,

All raffle tickets are due today, October 1. Please bring them to practice this evening along with payment for the tickets (they are $5/each). It would help me greatly if you could consolidate all the payments you received into a single check made payble to "CWYSC". That will make the processing of the tickets much simpler for everyone involved.

Wilson Tournament

As previously stated, we will be playing in the Wilson Fall Classic Tournament from Oct. 10-12. This is a 2-3 day tournament (depending on where we fall into the scheduling queue) and is an awesome opportunity for the kids to fine tune their skills over a concentrated period of time.

All games will be held at the Wilson fields at the intersection of Reedy Road and State Hill Road in Spring Township. There are numerous fields and two separate parking lots in the complex, so be sure to check the schedule and complex map carefully for the field location of each game. You can get more information, filed locations, and updates on the tournament schedule by visiting the Wilson web site: http://www.wjsc.org/ (just click on the Fall Classic Tournament link on the right hand side).

The schedule has not been finalized, but I did request to play on Friday evening, so as to limit the number of games on Saturday. Hopefully, this request will be taken into consideration.

Picture day rescheduled - 10/5/08

Our picture day has been rescheduled for 10/5/08 at 2:45 PM. The photos will be taken at the CW East Elementary School. Please arrive about 15 minutes early (2:30) so we will have enough time to get organized.

We are playing Wilson at 4:15 that day, but will have plenty of time to get our pictures done and still get to the Wilson field by 3:45.

Players will wear their BLUE JERSEYS for the pictures. Please bring their white jerseys for the away game at Wilson.

Raffle deadline

This is just a reminder that I need everyone's raffle tickets and money by next Tuesday's practice (September 30). I need to turn them in that day. Any questions, please call me at 610 678-1514 since Julia won't be at this weekend's game or at tonight's practice.

Concessions for home games - PLEASE READ

A note from the club's concession manager...

Welcome to another great season of CWYSC soccer! Concession stands are ready to go, all coaches need to do is make sure your team parent has arranged for coverage during your game. The concession stands are very important to our club during the soccer season, in the fall, we usually clear anywear from $3500-$5000 in concession stand revenue which in turn keeps costs down for our player's families, and it couldn't be done without their help.

All stands MUST be open during a home game, even make up games. If you have had a rescheduling due to weather, please let me know the new date and time and everything will be ready for you.

For new coaches, this is my 5th year of running the stands. All opening and closing instructions are posted in the stand, as well as price lists, a field schedule for the weekend so you know if there is a game after you, and the cash box will be in there. I try to make it as self sufficient as possible to make it as easy as possible, directions are posted for everything from making coffee to how to run the hot dog roller. All stands have electricity and the 419 stand has running water and restrooms.

I will send out an e-mail every week with the schedule for that weekend for each field, the coach of the teams playing, and whether your team is to open or close, or just run the stand for your game if you don't have to do either. Each week I will include the combination for the lock at each stand so noone will forget it :).

I appreciate everyones help with this task, I strive to make it the best and present a good image of our soccer club and I hope you will too.

I could use a Field Supervisor going forward. Primarily, this person makes sure the lines are painted a day or so prior to each home game. This person should also: 1) check the field for debris, 2) make sure the goals are secure, and 3) place the corner flags prior to each home game.

Hi, parents! It's hard to believe the first weekend of games is already here. I hope the kids are excited...I know I am. And, what a better way to open the season than a double header (I'm trying to be optimistic here).

First Games

On Saturday, we play Exeter at home -- the 419 field -- at 10:00 AM. I would like everyone to be there promptly by 9:30. We will wear our blue jerseys on Saturday.

On Sunday, we play Amity away at 1:00 PM. Please plan to be there by 12:30. Preparing for Game Days

Please make sure your player wears the full uniform with the correct jersey, shirts tucked in, to each game. Improper attire may mean he will not be allowed to play. Remember, shin guards go inside the socks (no parts showing), and players are not allowed to wear jewelry or wrist/neck bands of any kind. Proper soccer cleats should be worn. Please be sure your player brings plenty of water.

Bill and Duane will be doing the lines on the field for Saturday morning. I still need a field supervisor to handle this for home games going forward.

Snacks will be coordinated by the team parent. The team parent will not be responsible for bringing the snacks, just coordinating who brings them to each game. Let's try to keep the snacks healthy: fruit, cereal bars, etc. Drinks are not necessary, as each player should bring plenty of water to drink. I may keep a spare case of water in my truck just in case.

What if it rains?

Soccer is often played in the rain. If it is heavy rain, games may be cancelled. Games are always cancelled for thunderstorms. Since our game on Saturday is early, we may not be able to cancel in advance. So, unless you hear from me, please show up even if it is raining.

Uniforms

All uniforms are now in at Sneaker Villa. If you have not picked up your child's uniform, please do so by Friday afternoon.

Goalie Clinic

I do not have a confirmed date for the goalie clinic yet. I will pass it along once I get word from the club.

Rescheduled Games

I am still trying to reschedule the 9/20 and 10/4 games. More details to come soon.

We will have our Team Picture on Sept 28th at 12:15. So please be at the Heidelberg Field by 12:00. After pictures we will be going to our game at Amity.

This coming Saturday, 9/6, at 9:00 AM, we will be holding our goalie clinic. The clinic will be held at the Conrad Weiser East Elementary School. Six goalies from our upper age groups have been selected to demonstrate the drills instructed by the Rage staff. All coaches and goalies from each age group are requested to attend. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

The Rage staff requested six goalies to participate in the clinic demonstrations. The rest of the goalies and coaches will watch, listen and learn.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a parent or multiple parents to take care of several things for our team. As of now there are 3 different things that need to be managed / coordinated by someone for our team. There are the following:

1. Raffle ticket fund raiser

2. Scheduling shifts for the concession stand ( all parents must help work the concession stand)

3. Coordinating snacks for halftime and after games. (Must be healthy snacks for halftime)

Practices - Tues & Thurs 6:00pm

Practices are at the Old Wernersville Elementary School Field (Crnr of W Fairview St and Laurel St, behind the tennis courts). Your child can wear any shorts and shirts, however, they must wear shin guards. Also, please check to make sure your child does not have any metal hair braids, bobby pins, or clips. Anything that is used to hold up or pull back their hair, must be non-metal - cloth or other type of soft material only.

Home games are in Womelsdorf, at the field on the crnr of Rt419 and Rt422. With a possible exception, games will be played on Saturdays and travel is required. The schedule should be out on the Reading Berks Junior Soccer League (RBJSL) website by the end of next week. I do know that some of you were hoping for the schedule sooner, but unfortunately, we were advised at the Thursday coaches meeting that they are working on it.

Line Painting Schedule

Here is the line painting schedule for the 419 field. For each week listed below, our team is responsible to make sure the lines have been painted. This is the team Field Manager's responsibility, or whoever the Field Manager designates to do the job. One way or the other, we need to make sure it gets done. Painting materials are located in the shed by the concession stand. Please make sure the lines are done at least 30 minutes prior to game time (or, ideally, the day before). Thanks for your help in support of our team and the CWYSC!

Extra practice - 8/16

Hi, parents.

Due to the bad weather and the coaches' clinic this week, we were unable to practice. To make that up, I am holding an extra pratice on Saturday (8/16) from 9:30-11:00 AM. The practice will be at our usual location: the 419 field in Womelsdorf. If the weather is bad, I will call/email before 9:00 on Saturday morning.

This is not an optional practice. Unless you are out of town or your player cannot get a ride, I really need him to be there. We are only a couple weeks away from our first game and we have a lot of work to do! I appreciate your commitment to your son's development and to our team.

Also, if you have not turned in your player's birth certificate and 1x1 photo, then please bring it to practice on Saturday. I need to hand these outstanding items ASAP.

PLAYER PASSES - IMPORTANT - ACTION REQUIRED

OK, this is my first year coaching inter-club league play, so I am still learning here. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Apparently, we need at least 7 players' pics and birth certificates in order to register, AND every player's pass needs to be signed by a player or parent. So, I need ALL parents to meet me at the CW East Elementary School in Wernersville at 9am on Saturday. Failure to show will mean we do not have a team and your child cannot play this season. If you are away on vacation, please call me and we can work something out. Otherwise, you must be there. It should only take a few minutes.

Unless you gave me one on Wednesday, please bring...

1) A recent photo that is 1"x1" or that can be cut to that size (I would prefer that you do so yourself)

2) A copy of your child's birth certificate

3) Your child to sign his pass (or you can sign it for him)

Sorry, again, for the confusion and lack of clarity. I just found all of this out about 30 minutes ago.

August 13th Practice

The Reading Rage Soccer Club staff, Brendan Burke, Stephen Hogan, and Ged Quinn, will be conducting coaching clinics for the next two weeks in order for the coaches to learn the new curriculum that I mentioned before. Our team has been chosen to participate in the clinic on August 13th. The clinic will be at 6 PM at the East Elementary upper field. Please arrive a few minutes early.

Volunteers STILL Needed!

In order to make this a successful and enjoyable season for your boys, I need some help with a few things. A handful of volunteers will get these tasks done quickly and effieciently every week. Volunteers needed include...

1) TEAM PARENT: handles collection passing out of documents and info for head coach, coordinates game refreshments for players, helps plan team party

2) CONCESSION MANAGER: coordinates manning of 419 concession stand for each game (parents will be the volunteers), interacts with league concession coordinator re. supplies and concession stand upkeep

3) FIELD MANAGER: responsible for lining field and making sure it is playable before each game, interacts with supply manager to ensure proper supplies are kept on hand (paint, etc.)

4) PRACTICE COACH: I need one additional helper for practices only. Bill Ulrich has offered to help during games, but may not be able to make it to every practice. I just need someone to help me keep the boys in line during drills. You will need to do a background check if you are interested ($10 fee reimbursable by the league - go to https://epatch.state.pa.us/) and get a copy of that to me ASAP.

Games: First weekend after Labor Day. I was told that our games will be on Saturdays - but I will not get the schedule until the Coaches meeting on August 21.

Tournaments: We’ll do the Wilson Tournament which is on the Columbus Day Weekend .

For each practice, please make sure your child comes wearing soccer cleats, shin guards, appropriate clothing for the weather, and no jewelry. Also, please make sure he brings plenty of water.

Practices will focus on individual skill building, teamwork concepts, understanding of position play, and small game simulation. We will work hard each time, so let your child know he should come prepared to run and play hard. But, we will always try to have fun, too!

Birth Certificate – as far as I know - If you played last year you will not need this

1" X 1" picture - required for travel passes – we must get new ones for fall

Signature - every team member must sign the back of their pass

Conrad Weiser Youth Soccer Club Medical Release form – please fill the one out in your packet.

Uniforms - required - everyone needs to get a uniform this fall – you should have ordered this at registration – if you didn’t – please call me – we are getting our uniforms from the Sneaker Villa in Reading – according to the Club they should be ready by the second week of August

Welcome Fall 2008 U11 Players

Hello all,

Soccer is starting soon! I hope all of your boys are excited. I will be the coach for the only U11 boys team this year and we will be playing at the T3 level, sometimes referred to as Rec. So I think that we have a great chance at doing quit well. Our first practice will be on August 4 at the Heidelberg field with the time to be set by the end of this month. And we will be practicing every Monday and Wednesday.

The Conrad Weiser Soccer club has been generous this year and purchased a coaching curriculum from the Reading Rage. The curriculum will be used to help organize the practices so your son will develop into a better soccer player. We have also created a ‘Team Chat’ area on our web site to help with team communications. Our team is located at http://www.cwysc.org/Forum/threads.aspx?to=8 . Soon, you will be able to subscribe to it so you will get an email when a new message has been posted but for now, please visit once per day when the season starts on 8/4 to get up-to-date information about your team.

If you have not ordered your uniform yet then please do so as soon as possible at Sneaker Villa at the Giant Shopping center on 724 in Sinking Spring.

I will be on vacation form today until 7/28, so I won’t be able to reply to any emails until then. Please contact John Hanna, VP of Conrad Weiser Soccer Club, at jhanna@frommelectric.com, if you have an urgent issue before I return.

Perfect Spring Season for the "Gilmer Girls"

After a hard fought 3-2 victory this Saturday versus a very good Topton squad, we finished of the Spring '08 season 6-0-0.

Our hard nosed defense and keepers held our opponents to only 2 goals the entire season. I could not be more proud of the effort given by these young ladies and their committment, dedication and desire to become better players and better persons. Thank you to all of my girls and especially my team parents for their committment to the team. Our mission is not over though as we attempt to keep our momentum into May as we try to improve on last years Quarry's second place and hold firm to our defense of the Fleetwood championship of last year. Keep up the great work on the field and in the classroom!

No Practice 4/24

Conrad Weiser East has an event on 4/24, so no practice. More details to come on 4/29 and 5/8 practices.

Saturday's game is at 1:40 at Home vs. the other Conrad Weiser Travel 3 team!

Sunday's game is at 1:00 at Fleetwood's Andrew Maier Elementary School Field. Those wishing to carpool or join the soccer train should meet in the outer most parking lot of Target at 12:00. We will depart at 12:10.

Gilmer Girls off to a 3-0 start

After two straight weeks of 1-0 victories, the "Gilmer Girls" are off to a 3-0 start this Spring. They are really working hard and have beaten two very strong teams in our division. Keep up the great work girls !!

Tiny Titanics Having Fun and Gettin' it Done!

The girls are off to a good start and are playing well together. I love that they are all smiles even in the blistering cold!

If we play our best and stick to our positions, every game will have small victories. We accumulate a bunch of small victories throughout the game and we can beat anyone!

Practices will be at Conrad Weiser East from 5:30-7:00 every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the season. Please remember to park in the lots only . We can NOT park along side the gym.

A 4-0 win was great! Every girl should be proud of their performance
